A Small Place to Start in China.
Before a market becomes a plan, sometimes it begins with a conversation.
PHASE 0 is an independent working studio, small showroom and meeting place in Shanghai's Deqiu Art District. Opened by OUKKA in September 2026, it brings together products, design work, books and people. We're beginning to explore occasional collaborations with independent international brands interested in Shanghai.
What might happen here
A small product showcase. A conversation with a founder. A design presentation or exhibition. An occasional short pop-up. We prefer considered, low-footprint projects over a crowded calendar, and would shape each collaboration around the people and work involved.
We are particularly interested in independent design, everyday objects, sportswear, outdoor and functional accessories, publications, and projects with a thoughtful point of view. The aim is not to promise an immediate retail launch, but to create a place where a brand can start meeting Shanghai.
How we work
Every collaboration begins with a short conversation about the brand, the idea, timing and what can realistically happen in our space. For a small number of projects that feel genuinely aligned, we may discuss waiving a venue rental fee. This is not a standing offer of free retail space or a promise of sales, visitor numbers or distribution.
Shipping, product handling, staffing, insurance and any on-site sales would be agreed separately. Imported goods or commercial sales may require additional customs, tax and regulatory arrangements. PHASE 0 is a working independent space, not a one-stop China market-entry service.
